Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I try a free class before joining?

    Yes.  You can try all our classes for one full week before making any final decisions. 

  • Do you offer day passes?

    We have day passes for $25 covering all classes for the day.

  • What is the youngest age for the kids programs?

    The youngest students we work with are 6 years old.

  • Can I train without having to compete?

    Absolutely.  Although we are a highly competitive school, we won’t force someone to compete if they are not comfortable doing so.  



    We are just as happy with having great training partners. 

  • What do I need to wear for No Gi classes?

    Rash guards and dri-fit clothing are preferred for No Gi classes.

  • What kind of equipment do I need for BJJ?

    Traditionally, BJJ is practiced wearing a Gi/Kimono.



    A mouth guard is used to protect one's mouth and teeth from injury. (Optional)

  • Where can I get a Gi?

    If we do not have any available or in stock we can order one for you or you can simply purchase one online yourself.  There are many places to purchase a Gi.

  • How does the BJJ ranking system work?

    The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ranking system is based on colored belts (worn as part of the uniform) to signify increasing levels of technical knowledge and practical skill. Starting with White then Blue, Purple, Brown, and Black.

  • Will I get hurt doing BJJ?

    As with all contact sports, the potential for injury is always there. We at Absolute MMA pride ourselves in our low injury-to-fun ratio. 

    The American College of Sports Medicine ranks Martial Arts training very high in regards to safety over many of our country's nationally recognized Sports.
